Jeff Klopfenstein, President of the Methionine Unit at Novus International, announced plans to expand Alimet production at a new facility thus increasing capacity and jobs, to members of the Victoria EDC at their Annual Membership meeting.

Formosa Plastics Corporation Texas, in Point Comfort, is investing $5 billion into a plant expansion that will extend into Jackson County and provide about 340 jobs. The expansion will broaden the company's plastic resins product line and increase overall productivity, said Bill Harvey, company spokesman. Construction began about two and a half years ago and is scheduled to finish in late 2018.

VEDC Staff

The VEDC has a staff of four dedicated full-time employees to conduct economic development activities.


President

D. Dale Fowler, CEcD

Dale brings more than 30 years’ experience of customer service in economic and community development, including 17 years at American Electric Power to his position of President of the Victoria Economic Development Corporation.  He is a Certified Economic Developer by the International Economic Development Council, a graduate of the University of Oklahoma’s Economic Development Institute, and holds a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences degree in business and marketing. Dale lends his leadership skills to the Texas Economic Development Council where he serves on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors. His extensive background in the utilities market allows him to provide valuable insight to prospective and current businesses. Dale maintains a quick pulse on the local and state governments, keeping abreast of the climate for business development.


Vice President of Marketing

Adrian S. Cannady

Adrian has served as Vice President of Marketing of the Victoria Economic Development Corporation for more than 10 years. He holds a Master of Science degree in Economic Development and Entrepreneurship and is a graduate of the Center for Retail Studies in San Antonio, TX; and the University of Oklahoma’s Economic Development Institute in Norman, OK. Adrian’s sense of community and rigorous leadership training received while studying at the United States Military Academy at West Point, N.Y. provides him the acumen needed to assist new and existing businesses with their development projects and to attract new industry to the area through marketing efforts.


Operations Director

Sharon H. Barnard

Sharon has more than 16 years of non-profit leadership experience including seven years as an administrative professional at the Victoria Economic Development Corporation before assuming the position of Operations Director. Her service-minded attitude reflects the business friendly environment of VEDC, and her in-depth knowledge of community assets and attention to detail compliment her discernment for economic development. Sharon is a native Victorian, and is eager to assist prospective industry business leaders with the tools they need to find the right formula for success in our community.


Office Manager

Amber Vargas

Amber joined the Victoria Economic Development Corporation team in May 2015 when she confidently stepped into the role of Office Manager bringing with her a background in accounting and customer service. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. As a native Victorian, Amber conveys a strong sense of community as she communicates Victoria’s story to industry leaders, and coordinates a cohesive vision for the Corporation’s members in order to successfully execute the strategic plan and meet the goals of VEDC.
