PRIVATE SCHOOLS
Victoria’s private schools have a long-standing tradition of providing exceptional alternatives to public education for those parents who wish to educate their children in a religious environment. While some private schools have been established in recent years, others have served families in Victoria and the surrounding area for generations.
The Archdiocese of Victoria is home to two Catholic elementary schools, Nazareth Academy and Our Lady of Victory, and one high school, St. Joseph's High School, with a combined student population of over 1,000 pupils. Established in 1868, Victoria’s oldest private school, St. Joseph High School traditionally leads the area in the number of National Merit Scholars. Ninety-eight percent of St. Joseph’s graduates attend college, with each class collectively earning more than $1 million in scholarships. Additionally, the two elementary schools offer preschool programs. Calhoun County's Our Lady of the Gulf offers kindergarten through grade 6.
Trinity Episcopal School, with classes from K-3 through 8th, has been a leader in education since 1954. Trinity offers a challenging academic curriculum with a low student-teacher ratio. The 2002-2003 core curriculum school average on the Iowa Test of Basic Skills was 91.75%. Trinity is accredited by the Southwest Association of Episcopal Schools and features exceptional fine arts, technology and foreign language programs.
Faith Academy provides a strong academic program for grades K-3 through 12th. With a solid curriculum and a caring, capable staff, Faith Academy is accredited by the International Christian Accrediting Association. They offer excellent athletic and extracurricular programs.
Victoria Christian School has educated the children of Victoria for over 25 years. Fully accredited, Victoria Christian School combines strong academics using the ABeka curriculum with a varied extracurricular program of sports, music, computer technology and Spanish for students grades K-4 through 8th.
