The Victoria College is an open admissions two-year community college offering freshman and sophomore academic transfer courses, and a variety of one- and two-year technical training programs. The College also offers continuing education opportunities in a variety of subjects, and programs of community interest, including the popular Lyceum Lecture Series, drama productions, and concerts throughout the year. The Victoria College has responded to the needs of business and industry by offering a number of contract courses taught on the main campus and on-site.

Students pursuing virtually any major may begin at VC and then transfer their credits to upper-level institutions to continue their education. Many choose to stay in Victoria and attend the University of Houston-Victoria, located next to the Victoria College campus, while other students transfer their credits to such well-known schools as Texas A&M University, University of Texas at Austin, Southwest Texas State University, Sam Houston State University and the University of North Texas.
