Prospects for Nuclear Energy Expansion
When oil prices raced above $140/barrel last year, intense attention was placed on a sea of non-fossil fuel energy sources, including nuclear energy.  Even with the stabilization of oil prices, much of the country remains dedicated to reducing its dependence on foreign energy suppliers.  Consequently, nuclear energy remains a focal point from both investment and policy perspectives and is poised to be a source of significant non-residential construction activity going forward.

Texas poised to lead American nuclear renaissance
Soaring energy costs are taxing our economy and leaving us dangerously dependent on foreign energy sources. The U.S. Department of Energy projects that our need for electricity will increase 25 percent by 2030. While global demand increases, worldwide energy supply remains fairly stagnant, unnecessarily restrained by government regulations and prohibitions. To reduce the cost of fuel and power and ensure we can meet energy demands into the future, we must increase domestic supply and expand our portfolio of energy options. Now is the time to make nuclear power a greater part of America’s energy solution.

Nuclear power:  a viable source of energy
The animated cartoon family, “The Jetsons,” probably used atomic power for a lot of things, including running their flying cars, for entertainment, robots and energy for their homes. Even Homer Simpson, of the “Simpsons” cartoon, works in a nuclear power plant.
So, once, back in the late 1950s and 1960s, on into the 1980s, atomic power was looked upon as the energy answer of the future.

Former activist praises nukes
You do not ban a technology just because it can be used for destructive purposes, Patrick Moore said Thursday.  “Take fire for example,” he said. “One flaming arrow over the wall ... starts the whole village on fire and a lot of people die. So that means we shouldn’t use fire for cooking and heating? No, it doesn’t. It means we should stop killing people with fire.”  And the same concept applies to nuclear energy.
